What’d you think?: I don’t know the franchise this tactics game was based on. If you did, maybe there’s a lot of fun here. It came out very late in the PS1 lifecycle. It’s a tactics game with a sprite style that reminds me of the Game Boy Advance (in a way I love). I actually (just barely) lost the introduction/tutorial fight which bodes well for its potential difficulty. It seems to be non-canonical as hell (as the title Tactics Break might imply), the fights seem to take place exclusively virtually, and no Dragons or Trainers are ever in danger, which probably means fans of the series can see the matchups of their dreams. I didn’t get to see too much, on account of the aforementioned losing the first fight, but this might be pretty good.
