What’d you think?: Commercials for toys for kids always oversell the product. The worst offender is probably the pinball-inspired game Crossfire, but R/C cars ads did this too. Even the tamest commercials featured cars jumping off ramps through pyramids of clear plastic cubes that no kid I knew owned. This cart racer, while technically an ad for Tyco R/C cars (and featuring virtual versions of real models that were available at the time) doesn’t have the problem of making the cars seem more fun than they are. The game drives and controls well enough, but it’s slow! On either difficulty level (6 volts or 9 volts), you never feel like you’re driving fast.
